Having water means one thing to me.
I am so excited for the produce this year. We have water on site and a tiller. I can’t even begin to explain the excitement and ease a garden will be this year compared to 2014. (If you don’t recall in 2014 I “tilled” the garden with a shovel, rake and screwdriver and watered through the generosity of filling water containers at my mother in law’s house a couple blocks away from the Homestead).
Tyler tilled up a space of about 12×20 feet. It’s not yet quite where we want to be, garden size, but it is significantly bigger than my first attempt. I have given a lot of thought to what to plant this year based on space. And my decision is partially impacted by the farmer’s market. There are some items that are easier to buy in smaller amounts every so often at the farmer’s market, instead of growing too much in the garden.
While there are other produce I use constantly and would like to have on hand at the house in case needed or to fill out a meal. The garden coupled with the raspberry bushes (whose pruning these last two years have made them monstrous and something epic to contend with) and the four mulberry trees will mean this will be the best I’ve eaten my entire life.
Stay tuned for more garden updates as they become available!
