The patchwork on part of the kitchen floor that needed to be done when the boards needed to be removed to help with the new beam for that part of the floor. Also, there has been been a hole in this part of the floor from duct work or plumbing or something, so we just needed it done more nicely. Continue reading “Patching the Floor”
If you recall (from awhile back) I had posted a list of things that needed to be accomplished this summer at the house before we could even think of moving in. One of those things including straightening out the floors. The basement beams had allowed the house to sink a little (not a surprise or huge worry after 115 years of life). The whole main floor pitched down to the basement stairs. While not everything with the floors in the original house (main floor) will able to be perfectly leveled or squared, the goal is to NOT feel like you’re walking downhill. It’s been some tough days for asthma around here. From the dumb oats in the field across the way to some more plaster (what…huh?) coming down, the Pedersen lungs are trying very hard to keep up.
