Deconstruction, House and Acreage Restoration

Cleaning the Kitchen

For those of you who visited this summer, you probably heard me say something like this:

“I spend a lot of my time sweeping.”

Because I have. Sweeping up saw dust, and regular dust, and cellulose flakes, and nails…etc. etc. etc. The sweeping never ends. If Tyler is labeled as our contractor and laborer on this project, I would label myself as the janitor. Organize things and sweep things.

So since I’ve been laid up, when was I was able to get to the house finally, I asked, “What do I need to do?” I shouldn’t have been surprised when the answer was, “Could you vacuum and straighten things out?”

I think it was mainly an ego boost-because it is one of the few things that I can do.

Here is what the pan view of the inside downstairs looked like when I arrived.

A little messy. And more specifically here is the kitchen.

So some straightening out had to be done. Tyler even did some of the heavy lifting. But mainly, he was working on siding.

The part that was awful was the dust. Cement dust EVERYWHERE.

In fact, the super powerful shop vac had me so impressed, that I filmed myself vacuuming to show you all how dirty the floor was. (I know, don’t be jealous, I lead a very interesting life).

But we got the kitchen cleaned and organized…for a couple of weeks at least.
