Harvest

Please proceed to photos of the things I have grown.  I truly believe the earth grew these things as I did nothing (and I am quite serious here) special to sustain their life other than some watering and weeding.

Gardening is much easier than I ever thought. I am vastly looking forward to some more major gardening next year.

Basil. Basil is taking over my life. Note to self: Don’t plant so many basil seeds next year.

PEAS! I think I grew a total of 15 pea pods this year. Lost a couple plants in the tornado-weather. And they surprisingly regrow whenever it gets cool enough. So I keep watering them.

Broccoli. Although the broccoli plants are a little odd and often flower immediately after growing, so I didn’t harvest as much broccoli as I would like.

Jalapeños! I’ve probably harvested ten already.

Tomatos. I have harvested two-this is a photo of an heirloom I am looking forward to with extreme intensity.

Green Peppers are doing very well. There are two plants that I am not harvesting(this should allow the green peppers to turn into red peppers). I also have banana peppers but can’t find a photo of those.

Cantaloupe. We have exactly three cantaloupe growing. However, they are not quite ripe yet.

Watermelon. We also have exactly three watermelon growing. I am hopeful-as I love to eat a watermelon for an entire meal.

And last, this is a typical day’s harvest.

I’m running out of grocery money, so I am trying to pace myself with harvesting too early and too late. On this day, I took home a small onion (where I eat the whole onion and use the green tops as well), several small carrots (I had to thin the carrots so they didn’t grow together), four jalapeños, two green peppers, two banana peppers and a shirt full of basil. I also have four zucchini in the fridge (we’ve been eating an awful lot of zucchini and I am thrilled about that). However, I apparently don’t have any photos of the gigantic zucchini plant.

Next year, I’m definitely gonna try my hand with potatoes.

All we need now is chickens for eggs and the only thing I’ll need to buy at the grocery store is chocolate. And peanut butter. And butter. Okay, I guess I still need the grocery store. But I’ll use it less!
